Representatives of the MIA of the Republic of Belarus familiarized themselves with the usage of the national ID-cards in Ukraine

The delegation of the Department on Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus conducted a working visit to Ukraine on 28-30 March.

The prime purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the experience of the migration service of Ukraine in the implementation of biometric documents in Ukraine in light of the Belarusian side’s plans to introduce such documents in the near future. Belarusian peers learnt about the processing of the documents starting from allocation of a time slot in the electronic queue to issuance of ready documents, including submission of the application form, enrollment of the biometric data and personalization of the blank passport.

During the meeting, it was also noted that the procedure for issuance of biometric documents and identity management in Ukraine meets the latest requirements in the sphere of document security, and hence there should not be any obstacles for the citizens of Ukraine to cross the border between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus with the Ukrainian passports in the form of an ID-card.
